The votes are in and the winner of America’s Best Restroom goes to MSP Airport featuring Mercury Mosaics Tile! If you are traveling this holiday season and find yourself in the Minneapolis – St. Paul International Airport, be sure to stop by the restrooms of Terminal 1 to catch a glimpse of two beautiful tile murals crafted by our very own tile elves.

The Women’s bathroom features a stunning layout of a Minnesota landscape. Starting from the inspiration of Minnesota sunsets, our designers illustrated a dreamy scene that anyone would want to escape to! From the detailed illustration and map, our tile makers carefully craft each tile by hand. Once the tiles are glazed and fired, our skilled mosaicists lay out each tile to perfection while making intricate cuts for every custom curve and letter!
As you can see, parts of the mural have tile that is thicker and edge glazed. This allows focal points of the mosaic to stand out in a more accentuated way!
If you are traveling in the international airport, you are probably either coming from or going to a great destination. Drawing inspiration from the mountains, the Men’s mural shows a gorgeous gradation that happens in nature of fading from dark blue to a light cool grey in the distance. If you get close you’ll see an adorable biker! Along with the mountains at the bottom, parts of the tile are thicker and are set apart from the rest of the mural, creating depth and another level of intrigue!
