About The Company

Mercury Mosaics was founded by Mercedes Austin in the Winter of 2002 out of an interest to make a living as an artist. She started out in her apartment with a very small ceramic kiln making home accessories such as mosaic mirrors, mosaic end tables and ceramic switchplates.

“When I started Mercury Mosaics in my apartment 8 or so years ago I had a vision that one day I’d work with a team of people on a multitude of projects--from hotels and restaurants to the finest of residences and high end showrooms, with noteworthy designers and architects. I believe we have arrived. I currently have the pleasure of working with the best team of people, who care just as much as I do about making and distributing beautiful & unique tiles all over the US. Our incredible studio in the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District is full of architectural marvels, from exposed brick, tall ceilings, massive windows and timber beams; we are surrounded by beauty making beautiful things. That’s just the point--to create beauty, you surround yourself with it. I think every interior should be bathed in tile!”
